Major Atoms Get 1st Taste of AAA Competition
It wasn't hard to tell the boys had a 2 week layoff. The legs and tenacity that we had seen in the tryouts and scrimmages were missing in this game. The Ice Sharks have several players who play AAA hockey and they were more prepared for the game. The teams battled well for the 1st half of the game and were tied 2-2 at the mid-point in the game. Our legs started dying and our lack of positional play started to really affect us. The 2nd period ended 4-2.
It was good to get the boys into this game prior to our 1st tournament this weekend. They can now appreciate the skill level and speed they need to strive for to compete. The dressing room was very upbeat with all the kids getting to know each other better each time out. The players can't wait to get on the ice on Friday to prove that we can all learn from our mistakes and improve our game each time out.
