OTTF Spring Classic Tournament
The Quick Feet PeeWees traveled to Toronto again this weekend to face new and tougher competition at the OTTF Spring Classic Tournament.  Still pumped from winning the Toronto Cup the boys came to the rink ready for action!

Friday brought an early start to the day when the team met up with the All Canadian Boyz—a favourite to win the tournament.  Despite their best efforts the team found themselves with their first loss since forming.  It was a tough fight but in the end the Quick Feet team couldn’t rally back and left the ice with a 4-0 loss.  A lesson learned~they needed to step it up!!

The next game came later that evening~after a long break and a chance for the team to regroup.  The competition they now faced was the Skillz White Doves, who went on to win all their games and  progress to the finals in the tournament.  The Quick Feet PeeWees brought everything they had to the table and could walk away with their heads held high with only a 1-0 loss.  Cam Harron had a great night in net and with pressure from both the offence and defence enabled the team to keep the score low.

Another early morning for Saturday, the Quick Feet PeeWees faced off against the Stouffville Crunch who took an early lead scoring two goals in the first two minutes.  After shaking those two goals off goalie Jacob Locking did not give up shutting down most of Stouffville’s other scoring chances.   It could have been the two disallowed goals or the thunderstorm that raged outside but the Quick Feet team gave it their all taking every scoring opportunity to rally around from the 5-2 score and then with only 32 seconds left on the clock was able to finally tie it up…5-5.

That tie—and the low goals against/goals for average-- allowed the team to fight for third place with another late night game.

The final game for the tournament and the fight for third place was against the Toronto Sting who brought strong competition to the game.  Unfortunately the Quick Feet PeeWees just couldn’t capitalize on many scoring chances.  The final score was 5-2 for the Sting.

Although the team didn’t come away with another championship win, they came away with many lessons learned and a great sense of accomplishment for facing the tougher competition head on.  The coaching staff kept the team positive and used their experience to guide the players to play to the best of their abilities and all should be commended on their excellent team effort.
