What a Finish
The 99's boys finished off their AAA spring season the only way you should , with a BIG win!
The boys were pumped to start the game and came out flying. Playing a team from the Niagra area, we outplayed and outshot them in the 1st period 18-10, but found ourselves down 1-0. Same results in the 2nd. We outplayed and outshot them 12-6, but now down 3-0. The boys were snake bitten, doing everything right but they just could not score. If we could get one we knew we could get a bunch. In the 3rd period we outshot them 15-10. The boys played the 3rd period as a smooth running machine, taking the momentum, and killing a last minute penalty (with opposing goalie pulled). With pressure mounting, we dumped the puck only to hear the buzzer sound. With a big celebration in the goal crease, and all the parents cheering, we finally got the big win. Luck was finally on our side!
A succesful team always needs to bond together... coaches, players and parents.
Well parents, we bonded quite well together.... in the hallway (chair races), in the common room (Bill's famous phrase game ), and in the parking lot (watching the CUP finals).
For the players....well they just showed you that they bonded quite well! Seventeen 10 year old boys proved it with a Championship Trophy---they proved to themselves that they do belong playing at the AAA level.
Boys, you made the coaching staff proud this year, win or lose.
But winning in the end makes it feel a whole lot better!
