Quickfeet Capture Silver at Spring Showdown
The 2002's started their spring hockey season off strong with two exhibition game wins over the Maitland Ice Sharks - 6-1 and 5-3.

The boys quickly gelled and headed into their first tournament this past weekend in Toronto.

Quickfeet started Friday playing against the Personal Best Aces.  A slow start along with some bad bounces resulted defeat in their first game.

The second game later on Friday saw the Quickfeet Roadrunners take on the Quinte Spitfires.  The homeside came out hard pressuring the Spitfires with aggressive forechecking.  The Roadrunners struck early and often pulling ahead 3-0.  However, the boys took their foot off the pedal - letting Quinte back into the game and found their lead turn into a 3-3 final.

On Saturday Quickfeet played the Toronto Storm and again came out hard and forced the play on the Storm but an unlucky crossbar kept the game scoreless.  After the initial flurry in the first period the officials decided to take the game over, tilting the ice in the Storm's favour.  The boys found themselves trying to kill off penalty after penalty. Toronto finally capitalized on the powerplay scoring twice going up 2-0.  The Storm added two more late goals handing Quickfeet their second loss of the tournament.

In the fourth game the hometown boys were trying to get in the win column against the Elite Stars.  The Roadrunners this time would not be denied with a convincing 5-2 victory sending them into the Silver Finals on Sunday.

The Finals found Quickfeet in a rematch with the Elite Stars.  The effort was there again for the orange and blue.  Strong defensive play, a timely goal along with key saves equalled the Silver Championship for Quickfeet.

Congratulations on your first tournament boys!
