Hard Work and Team Play Equals Strong Performance!
It was a battle right from the start and it took over 6 minutes for the determined Minor Atoms to get on the board, but then the flood gates opened and they scored another 4 goals before the first period buzzer would sound. In what can only be described as a complete game from the net out, the team was firing on all cylinders today and gave the coaches little to do other than smile and try to look like they had something to do with it.

Mark Aljoe started off the scoring with the assist to Tyson Lina, followed by Kyle Durrer who notched his first of 5, assisted by Brendon Hinds. Next up was an unassisted goal by Mark Aljoe followed by a strong goal by Tyson Hutcheson assisted by Kyle Durrer.  The next goal in my opinion was the best of the night, not because of the goal itself, but the play that set it up. Thomas Brown came down the left side on a two on one and had everyone fooled that he was going to shoot but instead made a picture perfect backhand pass to Cameron Lightfoot who buried the puck into the back of the net.  Nice to watch! This ended the first with Quick feet leading 5-0.

The second period continued the same as the first as Kyle Durrer banged home 4 goals in a row with   Tyson Lina and Tyson Hutcheson getting assists.  Nathan Ahrens made some great passes leading to some excellent chances. Then Tyson Lina finished off the scoring in the second period with the assist going to Jordan Ferrier and Mark Aljoe. Really strong defense by Braeden Virtue, Dawson Fahrer, Sam Bye, Jordan Ferrier and Jayce Busby and some awesome backchecking made it very difficult for the Zone to penetrate and get any quality scoring chances. What did get through was turned away by the very sturdy and consistent goaltending by Spencer Lazarevich and Matthew Donnelly.

The third period was a scoreless event but the team continued their strong and smart hockey, however the boys may had been a little distracted as a few were scouting the stands for some hot Moms.

It was a great game filled with smart passing and some beautiful plays that showed that these young hockey players are putting the team goals first and it showed with a very strong team performance.  Great game!  Final Score 10-1.
