Major Peewee's Win Gold Consolation at May Madness!
The 98's are firing on all cylinders!  We had a very good weekend at the May Madness Tournament.  All players are contributing to a successful spring season thus far.

In game 1 on Friday May 13th, Quick Feet met Adpro from New York State.  We had played this very strong team last year and lost 6-1.  This year, however was a much better game for the Quick Feet team.  We outshot and outplayed Adpro for much of the game.  We cam out on the losing end of the scoresheet 2-1, but really showed that we were the stronger team in the game.

Game 2 matched us up against the Blue Bison from Buffalo.  They had some very larger 12 year olds on this team, but that didn't intimidate our team.  Again we played a very strong game and outshot our opponents.  Game 2 ended 3-3.

On Saturday May 14th at 2:45 pm we were matched up against TC Rock.  They were from Guelph/Cambridge area.  The Quick Feet boys had another solid game in this one.  It may have been our weakest effort of the tournament, however we came up with a 4-3 win.  So after 3 games we were 1-1-1 and ended 4th in the rankings for the semi-final games.

This put us up against the 1st place team the Radio Flyer which were made of players from the GTHL.  We knew we would have to elevate our game to be competitive in this one.  And elevate it we did!  Quick Feet again outshot and outplayed our opponent.  The score was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and a 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime didn't settle anything.  Therefore, we were forced to a shootout and ended up on the losing end 2-1.  After the game our guys were disappointed to lose since they knew that we had deserved a better outcome.  I reminded them that we hadn't lost the game.  We lost a shootout.  Shootouts might be fun to watch, but they don't have a place in team sports as far as this coach is concerned.

The loss to the 1st place team put us into the Gold Consolation final versus the Blue Bison from Buffalo.  We knew this team from our tie game on Friday and we were confident and determined to come out on top.  Again our guys came out strong and took the play to the Bison.  We forechecked exceptionally well and generated many good scoring chances off the rush.  At the buzzer, the score read Quick Feet 3 - Blue Bison 1.

In our 3 years of spring hockey with Quick Feet, this was our most complete tournament effort.  We outshot and outplayed every team in every game of the tournament.  Our players and parents should be proud of the strides these players and this team has made in 3 short spring seasons.  Our coaching staff is very confident in the skills, effort and tenacity of our team.  The 98's are proof that good coaching, good systems, exceptional effort and team play is the recipe for success.  Let's continue cooking up some more great results in our next tournament.  Great work guys!
