Quick Feet Take the Bite Out of the Ice Sharks
After a couple of great practices the 2002 Quick Feet boys were eager to play their first game of the spring hockey season.  Outside the dressing room, the crowds were beginning to grow for the much-anticipated game with the Maitland Ice Sharks.

The pace of the game was quick right from the drop of the puck with both teams exchanging scoring chances.  There were several shots early on and Quick Feet goaltender Tanner Bromfield stood tall. Late in the first, Quick Feet’s determination paid off when Blake Wideman picked up a loose puck in front of the net and put it upstairs to take a 1-0 lead.  It didn’t stop there when early in the second Blake Wideman picked up the puck in the neutral zone, stepped over the blue-line and used the defencemen as a screen to bury the puck in the bottom corner and a 2-0 lead.  The 2 goal lead didn’t last long as the Ice Sharks responded quickly with a goal of their own.  With no more scoring in the period the teams went into the dressing rooms after two and a score of 2-1.  The break didn’t slow these teams down as the third period started off where the first two periods left off.   Early into the third, Quick Feet struck again when Nathan Naves drove the net and was stopped by the Ice Sharks goalie, but Evan Dewar was there to punch home the rebound.  A couple of minutes later Quick Feet added more insurance when Nathan Naves walked in on the Ice Sharks goalie and fired a shot into the top corner to make the score 4-1. The Ice Sharks pressed hard for the remainder of the third but the Quick Feet defensive unit of Hale Schoneck, Owen Moyer, Coleson Fischer, Thomas Gangl, Tatum Behan and Reed Staufer made it tough for them to get to the net and goaltender Caden Prues made some great saves to keep the Ice Sharks off the board.  The final score was 4-1 for Quick Feet.

Great start to the season boys!  Keep up the hard work.
