Quick Feet Off To Great Start
The month long wait was finally over and the 2002 Quick Feet boys were ready to take to the ice for their first game of the spring hockey season against Collingwood Blue Thunder.

The pace of the game was quick right from the opening face-off as Quick Feet put the puck deep into the Blue Thunder end zone and kept it there for most of the first period.  The attack was strong but didn’t produce any results as the Blue Thunder goalie shut the door and kept the Quick Feet boys off the scoreboard.  That wouldn’t hold through the second, as early pressure paid off when Jaden Goldie jumped on a rebound and put it past the Blue Thunder goalie.  That was enough to kick start the offense into high gear and they didn’t shut it down from there.  Next it was Nathan Naves who took a pass from Owen Moyer out of the Quick Feet end zone and raced down the sideboards and then put a hard wrister off the far post.  Gavin Mikaczo then found the back of the net when he picked up a rebound from a Will Black shot.  A couple of minutes later it was Will Black getting his first when he jumped on a rebound from a Gavin Mikaczo shot.  Shortly thereafter the Blue Thunder took a four minute penalty and it was time for Quick Feet to put the power play to work.  It didn’t take long for the power play to get going as a few seconds into it Owen Rahn raised the puck over the Blue Thunder goalie and into the back of the net.  Then just as the second penalty was winding down Brody Leblanc tapped one in off a nice feed from Gavin Mikaczo.  Things didn’t slow down after that, as Gavin Mikaczo would pick up his second of the game when he buried a rebound off a Jaden Goldie shot.  Finally it was Will Black with a hard wrister to the top corner off a nice pass from Jaden Goldie to end the second period.  After two periods and an offensive outburst it was Quick Feet with 8 goals and the Quick Feet defensive unit made it tough for the Blue Thunder to register anything offensively.  The third period saw more scoring from Quick Feet and this time the defense got in on the action.  Owen Moyer started the scoring in the third with a shot off the point that went off the post and over the goal line.  Shortly after that Luke Eurig converted on a pass from Nathan Naves on a 2 on 1 rush.  Back on the power play it was a beauty D-to-D pass from Tatum Behan to Thomas Gangl that started a point shot being tipped in the net by Owen Rahn.  Lastly Brayden Krueger finished the Quick Feet scoring as his shot from the circle found the back of the net.  The final score was 12-0 for Quick Feet.

Great start to the season boys!  Carry that hard work into next week’s tournament.
