Gold Finalists
What a great weekend of hockey and friendship to end off another spring hockey season!  This group of boys came so far as a group in the past 2 months, and really made there mark as a team.   There was very few games where I didn't feel we made strides, whether it be puck pursuit, fore checking, passing, or positioning.

Ending the weekend with a Gold Final runner up is not the way we wanted to end...but there is no doubt after 6 games this weekend, we proved we could play with some of the best Canlan could throw at us.  The referee in the final game couldn't believe that we didn't have one AA or AAA player on our team, and said he thought we were the better "TEAM", a great compliment from a guy that refs a lot of games in these tournaments all the time.

Thanks to the parents who got the kids to try-outs, practices, and of course the tournaments.  I also appreciate the financial investment you have made to help develop your young athletes in a very competitive environment where winning games isn't always the final outcome, nor is it always the most important part of the experience.  I can guarantee you based on what I saw in the past couple days specifically, some friendships were forged that will last a lifetime of hockey.

To the coaches and on ice helpers...it was an honor to work with you all and I look forward to seeing you at the rink soon!  We all were on the same age right from the first time we talked hockey, and we kept this group moving in the right direction through out this spring...nobody said coaching 10 and 11 year old kids was an easy job!

And finally to the kids, I hope this experience will make you all better competitors, teammates, and students of the game.  I enjoyed working with everyone of you, and I don't think there is any one of you who wont be better teammates next year in your home markets for this experience.  It is very easy to get complacent playing with the same kids in your home market year after year.  The experience of playing with other kids, from other markets...(some better and some still developing)...it will only help you grow as a team mate and athlete.

As a Quick Feet group this year we had 6 more wins, and 2 more ties then last years tournament season, and ended the season with a Gold Championship, and two runner up finishes in the Gold Championship...we have a lot to be proud of boys!   All the best in your 2019/2020 Hockey seasons...I hope to see you at the rink soon!!
