Toronto Cup Day 2 - 1 Win, 2 losses
Saturday May 8th, 2010. The third game of the tournament was against another undefeated team, the North American Gladiators. The boys were ready to go and the knew the competition was going to be tough.

A complete game with lots of hard work and team work was needed to defeat the Gladiators. The first period was fast and furious with many chances and some great back checking especially by Tyson Hutcheson who was having his best game of the season and was bound and determined that the Gladiators weren’t going to score when he was on the ice. After a tough fought period, the score was 1-1.

The second period turned out to be as exciting as the first with many chances and plenty of nice plays by both teams. The play was pretty even and hard fought by both team throughout the period as each teams scored minutes apart to keep the game deadlocked until 46 seconds to go in the period when the Gladiators were able find the back of the net for the 3-2 lead.

The third period turned out to be all the Gladiators as they scored three more times to make the final 6-2. Goal scores for Quick Feet were Tyson Lina with assist to Tyler Colhoun and Tyson Hutcheson and Tyson Hutcheson scored an unassisted goal.

Quick Feet 8 – Ice Kings 1

The tournament organizer set up an exhibition game with the Ice Kings in the afternoon and the boys wouldn’t say no to another game as they all love to play hockey. The line of Mark Aljoe, Brenden Hinds and Nathan Ahrens were on fire this game with some dandy passing and team play. Brenden Hinds was given the play of the tournament as he was going in the Ice Kings goalie two on none and could have scored but instead made a very unselfish pass to Mark Aljoe who tapped the goal into a wide open net. It was a very mature play for such a talented young player. Congratulations Benden! Goal scorers were Brenden Hinds (natural hat trick), Mark Aljoe (2), Nathan Ahrens (2), Tyson Lina. Assists to Mark Aljoe (3), Brenden Hinds (2), Nathan Ahrens (2), Trevor Fisher.

The last and Third game of the day was against a Strong Hockey Loft team from Cambridge. The boys played a very strong game against a very rough team but showed tonnes of character by never backing down from the bigger and rougher Hockey Loft. The first period ended with the loft up 2 goals but the action was fast and the boys continued to play to win with rigid forechecking and unyielding backchecking. The play in the second period ended in a draw as neither team could out muscle the other to get to the net and get the rebounds or get past the great defense. The Loft took three penalties in the period but Quick Feet were unable to capitalize on their chances.

The third period saw the Loft score early but this didn’t stop the determined Quick Feet team from playing and giving it their all. They just never quit and never gave up! The Loft scored two more goals late in the period and ended up taking some more penalties late but the Quick Feet team show their composure and didn’t get drawn into that type of game. Matthew Donnelly had a strong game in net and made many outstanding saves. Great game boys!
