Toronto Cup AA Champions!!!
Well the games were set and Quick Feet was in the AA semi-finals and their game was against none other than the Ice Kings from Hamilton for their third meeting of the week-end.

Quick Feet didn’t take this team lightly and continued their great team play and solid defensive. Morgan Troyer was solid in net and made some very testy saves to earn his first career AAA Shut-out. The score was 1-0 after the first period with Brenden Gallaher getting his first of the season assisted by Thomas Brown. Quick feet would get two more in the second period by Mark Aljoe from Jordan Ferrier and Brenden Gallaher getting his second from Kyle Durrer to give the coaches a little breathing room and end the period with a 3-0 lead.

The flood gates would open in the third period with 6 unanswered goals by Quick Feet. Brenden Hinds would notch one early in the period from Nathan Ahrens and Mark Aljoe followed closely by a goal from Kyle Durrer unassisted to make it 5-0. Quick Feet would then score 4 more with less than 3 minutes to go. Kyle Durrer would get his second goal unassisted, Tyson Lina would also get an unassisted goal. Brenden Hinds would net his second of the game from Nathan Ahrens and Dawson Farher and Brenden Gallaher would finish the scoring from Thomas Brown getting his third goal for his first career AAA hockey hat trick.

The final score would be 9-0 for Quick Feet and put them firmly into the AA Championship game three hours away.

The Championship turned out to be a very entertaining game in front of a growing crowd when word spread about the game throughout the arenas leading to a large, loud and boisterous cheering section for both teams.   The first period was fast and furious as both teams showed that they belonged here and were here to win. End to End plays, solid defensive stops, great scoring opportunities and all this was just the start. The first period ended 1-0 with Kyle Durrer scoring the lone goal for Quick Feet assisted by Drew Bell. The second period saw the Cyclones take advantage of some opportune passes into the slot to open players and jumping on some lose rebounds in front of Quick Feet Goalie Matthew Donnelly to take the commanding lead 5 -3 after the second. Scorers for Quick Feet were Nathan Ahrens with Mark Aljoe and Brenden Hinds drawing the assists and Tyson Lina with an assist to Jordan Ferrier and Tyson Hutchenson.

The third period didn’t start out well as the Cyclones capitalized again and found an open man in front of Matthew and banged home their 6th goal to put Quick Feet in a big hole with 11 minutes left to play. The team didn’t seem to want to quit and mounted an amazing come back. First to score was Kyle Durrer assisted by Trevor Fisher and then Brenden Hinds would find the back of the net with a nice pass from Mark Aljoe.   The excitement was mounting and the momentum was changing which led to Mark Aljoe tying the game with the assist going to Sam Bye. The last 4 minutes was end to end action with both goalies making spectacular saves.

Neither team was able to score in the remainder of the game nor in the overtime period. The action during the overtime was even faster, more furious and electrifying as both teams wanted to end the three on three play and not have to go to a shoot out. The buzzer did buzz and then came the impending shoot out.

In the shoot out that was to decide the Champion, Kyle Durrer and Nathan Ahrens scored for Quick Feet and Matthew Donnelly shut the door and didn’t allow any goals for the victory.   Members of the Championship team are Goalies Matthew Donnelly and Morgan Troyer.
