AAA Spectacular - Quick Feet 6 Regional Blue 1
Friday May 14, 2010. Stratford.

The boys were off to Stratford for their second tournament of the year and still flying high from the AA Championship win last weekend.

Their first game was against a very respected Regional Blue team from Brantford. Quick Feet was very well prepared for this tough opponent and the anticipation in the room was high. Quick Feet went out for their warm up wearing their dark blue jerseys to their surprise so was the Regional Blue team. Quick Feet finished their warm ups and then headed to the dressing room to change to their whites.

The game started and Quick Feet was aggressive and took the play to the Blues with an tedious forecheck that had the Blues on their heals. The Blues recovered and held off the attack and then the game was on. End to end rushing but some solid defensive plays again and key saves by both goalies keep the first period scoreless.

The second period would be very different as Quick Feet earned the momentum through a lot of hard work, strong skating. They took this momentum and Brenden Gallaher scored a single between first and second base...Yes, Brenden was in position and batted, yes batted a rebound shot from Kyle Durrer out of the air into the top corner. Crosby would be proud!

The flood gates then opened as Quick Feet got a taste of the twine and liked it. Mark Aljoe would score the second assisted by Nathan Ahrens and then Brenden Gallaher would notch his second of the game assisted by Thomas Brown and Jordan Ferrier. This would lead to what the coaches would call the play of the year so far as Brenden Gallaher would skate over the opponents blue line and curl back up toward the boards thus drawing two defenders towards him with Kyle Durrer and Thomas Brown driving to the net uncovered. Brenden then through over a picture perfect pass to Kyle Durrer who was turning backwards as he one timed it home into the open corner of the net with Thomas ready to pounce. Nice play!

The fifth goal would go to Mark Aljoe and assist going to Jordan Ferrier on again another pretty play. This gave Quick Feet a five nothing lead heading into the third period. The start of the third saw Tyson Hutcheson pick up a loose puck in transition at his own blue line and head up center ice and with a couple of nifty moves was clear to take a shot to the top corner beating the Blues goalie and giving quick feet a 6 goal lead.

The Blues kept on coming and would eventually find the net with around four minutes to go to round out the scoring in this penalty free game. This game was a solid game exemplifying hard work and strong team play. The final score would be 6-1. Great start boy and Happy Birthday Sam!
