Hockey Loft 7 Quick Feet 3
The second game of the tournament was against the big tough and fast hockey loft from Cambridge. The boys knew they were in for a tough battle. Quick Feet came out like a lamb in this one and the Loft scored with less then 30 seconds into the period. The hockey loft continued their relentless forechecking and skating with a in your face attitude that Don Cherry would applaud. They work hard and play hard. The Loft would score only one more in the first and the period would end 2-0.

The second period Quick Feet did a much better job covering in the defensive zone and Jayce Busby, Trevor Fisher, Sam Bye, Dawson Fahrer, Drew Bell and Jordan Ferrier did an excellent job showing the Loft that the front of the net area belonged to them and made the loft pay the price to stay. Many hard battles away from the puck were won by these courageous warriors in front of the net in this period and the next. This excellent play still wasn't enough as the Loft popped in three more in this period to make the score 5-0 after two periods.

The third period the boys came out like a lion as they wanted to prove a point and played the same style of play as the Loft and worked harder to carry most of the play for the period. The line of Thomas Brown, Kyle Durrer and Brenden Gallaher was on fire with impressive forecheck that lead to two nice goals and proved that hard work does pay off. The first goal was by Kyle Durrer, assisted by Brenden Gallaher to make it 5-1. The second goal for Quick Feet was by Brenden Gallaher who crashed the net and picked up a loose puck beside the net and tucked it in. Assists went to Kyle Durrer and Thomas Brown. The third goal to make it 5-3 which gave the team some life went to Thomas Brown with assists to Brenden Gallaher and Kyle Durrer.

This rally gave the boys some confidence and looked like a come back in the making but the Loft were able to get the puck past Matthew Donnelly two more times to make the final score 7-3. In the third period the boys again showed their character by not giving up and played tougher and harder then they did in the first two periods. If they could have played the whole game like that, well, lets just say the Loft wouldn't want to see that. The boys learnt about position and getting into the body to control really good puck handlers. A valuable lesson hopefully we can try out for three complete periods against the Loft in the finals.
